1.2KM SuperMoto Track Dominates Taiwan Circuit

K1 CIRCUIT AT CHANGHUA COUNTY

READY FOR ASIA SUPERMOTO CHAMPIONSHIP SHOWDOWN

The 2017 FIM Asia SuperMoto Championship will commence at Changhua County, Taiwan on Saturday and Sunday, 18 and 19 November 2017, from 10:00AM to 6:00PM (+8:00GMT). As the season reaches a midway point, the Qualifying and main races on Sunday will soon determine the top contenders for overall championship title.

United Kingdom’s Lewis Cornish that leads the Open International Class scoreboard with a total of 100 points is followed closely by the Asian Class chart toppers, Thailand’s Trakarn Thangthong and Malaysia’s Khairi Zakaria. The trio that has outperformed the 2016 champion, Malaysia’s Muhd Habibullah, will pursue an unprecedented battle of speed and skills at Taiwan.

“We are pleased and excited as this will be our first Asia SuperMoto championship in Taiwan. The country that embraces two-wheel motorsport with optimum safety will create a safe riding avenue for our riders. Moreover, with championship reaching its peak of the season, global fans can expect another high-adrenaline race by our top international riders,” said Andrew Ching, CEO of E-Plus Global Sdn Bhd.

The 1.2-kilometre circuit at Changhua County is slightly similar to the Thailand Circuit Motorsport Complex, with long straights dominating the track. However, the main difference will be the single off-road section with eight whoops and two table-tops, stretching as long as 200-metres. The dirt section can be a winning advantage for Trakarn and Khairi as the duo is highly trained in motocross.

The K1 Circuit has a broader turn compared to the Indonesia’s track. The long straights on the asphalt section will be the primary competition on each machine’s performance, especially after the final turn’s race to the finish line. This also means that a holeshot will barely determine the rider’s position as a front-runner in the race.
